
I think that this photograph I took in Sarajevo a few years ago breaks down a few more barriers and social hurdles that the traditional all black Burkha conjures up, and that we tend to see in the UK's high streets.
Even when working in the Yemen this year (the most Muslim of countries) the young ladies wore Burkhas with fashionable jeans showing underneath and red and gold decoration and accessories etc.
I think that the more our immigrant communities can do to 'fit in' with the British social and cultural scene then the more they will be respected and the better they will be regarded. It took a war in Yugoslavia with tens of thousands being murdered before these girls were allowed to break tradition and dress like this. Comments?
